Weaving in 1907…

Loft visited the Ulster Folk Museum on Monday 1st April. The most interesting bit was the draper’s shop, R.J.SLOANE, based directly on the original from Kilkeel in Co. Down. We saw the drapery shop as it would have been around 1907, complete with the weaver at work in the ‘shed’ at the rear of the shop. The weaving taking place was using Kilcar wool from Donegal, Ireland and Sheltland wool from the Shetland Islands, Scotland. We will be using the Kilcar wool for our up and coming Fall/Winter Collection.
